Building Bridges
What We Do – How We Help You

A bridge is so much more than merely a connection between two points. Upon closer inspection, one realizes that a bridge is a work of precision craftsmanship. It must be strong and enduring to fulfill its purpose; furthermore, to use it, one must place their trust in it. Europework serves just such a bridging function. As a recruitment agency, we have specialized for over 16 years in the placement and support of foreign physicians within Germany.

Europework is a recruitment agency for foreign physicians, headquartered in Germany. Through our expert guidance and our nationwide network of contacts, we connect you with German hospitals and clinics. In doing so, we provide our international physician clients with access to the German healthcare system.

Our services encompass comprehensive support throughout your journey toward securing a signed employment contract with a German hospital.

Specialist training in Germany

In Western Europe, specialist training is a paid further education, in Eastern Europe it is still not so – there, the person who wants to be trained as a specialist must bear the costs themselves.
For Physicians

For foreign physicians who have studied medicine in the EU.

Compared internationally, the German healthcare system is highly attractive. In Western Europe, specialist medical training is a paid form of professional development; in Eastern Europe, however, this remains to this day not the case, as individuals wishing to train as specialists must bear the costs themselves. Germany occupies a unique position in Europe, as it is the only country where almost all hospitals hold accreditation to provide specialist training to resident physicians. In all other European nations, only university hospitals possess such accreditation. With over 2,000 acute-care hospitals and 300 rehabilitation clinics, Germany is therefore an ideal country for young physicians aspiring to become specialists a path for which they also receive a very good monthly salary. For this reason, many foreign physicians relocate to Germany to launch their careers primarily to complete their specialist training there, or even, as fully qualified specialists, to further expand their professional expertise.

We support foreign physicians with:

The Integration of Physicians in Germany

Germany is a nation divided into 16 different federal states. Each federal state has its own medical association (NRW even has two medical associations) and its own health authority. Each federal state has its own rules and laws and its own immigration procedure for foreign doctors. In Germany, one can freely apply for an open position and every qualified doctor who studied medicine in the EU can receive the approbation certificate immediately with a passed FSP certificate.

Specialized Language Examination (FSP) in Germany

Since January 2017, all foreign doctors practicing in Germany must pass the so-called Specialized Language Examination (FSP) to obtain their medical license.

This specialized language examination is administered exclusively by the respective medical associations in each federal state.

A German B2 language certificate is required to apply for a license to practice, but a C1 level is necessary for the license itself, as the FSP examination is at the C1 level.

Your preparation for the Specialized Language Examination should look like this:

You can obtain a general language diploma up to C1 level at Goethe or TelC language schools.

We also know of several private tutors who can teach you German online, from A1 to C1 level.

You can complete the preparation courses for the Specialized Language Examination (FSP) yourself in your home country.

For preparation for the Specialized Language Examination, you are welcome to contact us via this link.

You can’t study German all day long. Even if you’re tired in the evening, don’t try to study then. Instead, use our media library to learn German. With this library, you can watch most of the major German television channels and many interesting German series online. Have fun!

Pieter Guweltherus Verweij

I look forward to placing you in the job you have always dreamed of.

My life journey so far has taken me through various countries in Europe. I was born in the Netherlands and have worked and lived for several years in Germany (15 years) and France (4 years) and from 2015 to 2020 in Switzerland, and since 2025 again in Switzerland.
Already in 2010, I began placing doctors from all over the world to Germany through www.europework.eu. Many of the resident doctors from back then have today become specialist doctors. A wonderful experience that has led me to focus even more strongly with Europework on placements within Germany.

Why? On the one hand – and this applies especially to placements within Germany – because there are countless opportunities and it is almost impossible to get a comprehensive picture without engaging with it in depth on a daily basis and maintaining contacts.
On the other hand – and this applies especially to myself – because looking back I must acknowledge that all these experiences, the other countries and languages, different customs and traditions, have enriched my life and also my career.
Even though many of the decisions I made were accompanied by great uncertainty, I regret none of them – because through each and every one of them I have grown beyond myself.

I would gladly use my experiences to support you on your journey and in your career. I hope that you will place your trust in me and allow me to assist you with both advice and action.

Yours sincerely, Pieter Guweltherus Verweij
